Narrative
On an island of haves and have-nots, teenager John B hires his three best friends to search for a legendary treasure tied to his father’s disappearance. Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, and their “OBX” co-stars quiz each other on the best lines from their popular Netflix series. The film was shot in Charleston, South Carolina; it was originally slated to be shot in Wilmington, North Carolina.
This series is incredibly unrealistic, but honestly, I don’t care
It’s obviously not trying to be the most serious show ever, so I’m totally fine with it being completely over the top. The lead actors are a joy to watch and give decent acting (nothing extraordinary, of course). The actors are way too old for the roles they’re playing.
But whatever, this isn’t news
Until Sarah said she was only 16, I wasn’t sure how old they were supposed to be. Casting age appropriate actors is extremely difficult so I can’t really take any points off for this. I’m not finished yet but so far it’s fun, fast paced and entertaining.
Edit: After finishing the show I CAN’T WAIT for season 2
It got SO MUCH better with each episode and honestly by the end it felt like a really high quality production and is a really great foundation for a possible season 2. What impressed me the most was how well written the dialogue was, it was so believable. If you can ignore the fact that they don’t look like 16 at all, they definitely act like a bunch of dumb 16 year olds.
Netflix, you’ve done it again!
